The Warped Tour, Traverse City, and Radiohead

So The Warped Tour was great! Oh man was that fun. It was on Saturday and I went with Lauren, who had asked if I wanted to go on Friday. We were in the pit for New Found Glory and Yellowcard and after those two I was totally worn out and tired and sweaty so then we walked around and bought lots of stuff and watched the skaters and bmxers do their thing on the half pipe. Towards the end of the day, Flogging Molly played. They’ll always be rockin’ in my book, me being Irish and all… The sweetest part was when WE MET THEM ALL!!! haha, I got all 7 signatures on a sweet shirt and maybe I’ll post a picture of it sometime. I also bought a few other things…like a Vans shirt (that came with a hat and a cd) and the brand new Project 86 album that I didn’t even know was out. I got it at the tent for Tooth and Nail which is the all-christian label that Project 86 is now a part of. After Sugarcult played an amazing show, we headed over to IHOP for some late-night pancakes and then headed home. Then I started packing…but not really.

On Sunday morning, I had to wake up early…which sucked…but I still hadn’t packed anything for the trip to Traverse City so I got that done pretty quick because we had to drop my brother off at the bus stop in Elgin to go up to Covenant Point at 9 or so. Driving up to TC was pretty easy, it’s quick once you get going because there’s like…no traffic in Michigan. When we got there, I noticed something, Traverse City is B-E-A-Utiful this time of year. Katie said it was the best time of the year in terms of weather so my mom and I were glad to have picked it to visit. To make a long story short, since I’m already getting tired of typing and I’ll have another post soon anyway, we did SO SO much up there. Walked on the beach, on the streets, on the dunes; stopped by Interlochen for the grand tour with Emily (we even ran into Blake…anyone else remember him?); and we went to this “Art Park” that, in my opinion, was WAY over-hyped. It was supposed to be this gallery of art work that would tie in with nature and look pleasing to the eyes when it was displayed in the forest. Some of it was cool…most of it was lame. There were like 15 or so pieces (which made up more than half of the whole walk) that were lame poems and were only there because someone donated a lot of money to get the thing set up. Some of the art was just a regular sculpture that didn’t have any place in “nature” at all… Oh well, hopefully more artists show interest in this because it has the potential to be *really* cool. There were some set-ups that were quite amazing.

Well that was more than I had planned on writing…and there’s a ton more stuff I have to write about so that will come later. Soon there will even be pictures, so stay tuned. I’m just waiting for them to get developed (I give up on digital pictures, my SLR cam is too cool :) )
