Adventures in Consumerism

So I had to get a KVM switch today (yes, i HAD to…) and the quickest and easiest place seemed to be, once again, Best Buy. I checked out the regular deals like I always do, nothing too exciting (’cept maybe a 120 gig for $50 after rebates) and eventually found the KVM switches. There’s a 4-port one for $95 and a 2-port one for $55 (both also share audio). They didn’t have the one on the site for $35 (that doesn’t share audio) so I was pissed. Until I found a $55 one marked at $35.

I was giddy as a geek in a computer store who finds a mis-labeled product. It only took a little “what? but it says $35 on the sticker!” and a little “shoot, well I thought this was the cheaper one and just got put on the wrong shelf” to get the cashier-lady to go talk to the manager-man who then came over and gave me the labeled price. I wanted to throw both my hands in the air and yell “SCORE!” but maybe that would just motivate them to double-check all the stickers when putting them on.

Oh, and then I went to Meijer and there was a lady standing by the baskets and even when I said “’scuuuuuse me” and started reaching for one she wouldn’t move. I had to use my incredible flexibility and balance to reach *around* her and grab a basket while she went on talking to this other lady and just generally taking up space. I wanted to kick her in the face.
