A car of my own
Finally! Here’s a pic for any of you that wanted to see what it looks like. Now everyone just needs to send me some money so I can start upgrading it. First on the list: fix the crappy speakers.

My mom is a godmother. She acts mostly like a regular mother, however, on some occassions, she does indeed resemble a godmother as well. Today was one of those days. Ironically enough (or not) the Farrells (from our church) chose her to be the godmother of the newest member in their family, Gretchen.
It was Gretchen’s first birthday today so the Farrells and the Ferrells and everyone in between had plenty of reason to celebrate. There was laughing and dancing and toy trains and forts and fake kitchens and messes and everything else that kids do best. Always a good time
Here’s Gretchen doing her best to get the cake in her mouth.

And this is Liam. After pummeling the mats mercilessly for about half an hour, I stood them up so he had a fort. He insisted that no fort would ever be complete without a door (or, in his words “door!”) so I made sure they opened up on one side and he was quite relieved.

Check it out - WordCount.
By scanning through 100 million words, these guys figured out which ones were the most common. You can have some fun with it to by searching for specific words. Go to this page to see some of the best sequences of words people have found. And for even more fun, see the most commonly searched words on WordCount on the QueryCount page.
When I searched for my name, well…see for yourself. Apparantely I’m funny…

Ooh ooh, found a cool trick. You know when you try to load a pdf file and it takes 3 hours? Adobe Acrobat reader takes forever to load, crashes, and tries to update every 5 seconds. BUT! there is at least a solution to the slow startups and frequent crashes. I tried this out and it starts up in half a second now.
Open windows explorer and go to the folder where acrobat is installed. It’s usually something like C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 6.0\Acrobat. You should see a lot of folders and files in here. Find the folder named plug_ins and rename it plug_ins_old or plug_ins_stupid or anything else so that Acrobat won’t use it. Now make a new folder named plug_ins. Copy the files EWH32.api, printme.api, and Search.api from the old folder to the new folder. There, now you’ve tricked Acrobat into using the new folder and all the useless plugins will be disabled because it can’t find them any more. Hooray!
