It’s about time, eh chaps?

Guess what, long time, no update. Surprise, surprise. Been busy though. We got back from quakecon on monday and I worked tuesday, wednesday, and thursday. Yesterday I drove down to university of illinois and helped Lauren move in. That was fun. Except for the part where a jeep ran into me on the highway. That dude was pretty crazy…especially since he actually managed to run into me with a jeep (pretty light) with 4 wheel drive (pretty easy to stop) in a traffic jam on the highway (i don’t know how he managed to be going too fast to stop). Oh well, he just made a dent in the back of the van so I don’t think it hurt any of Lauren’s stuff and I didn’t get hurt either. Besides that, everything went well. After I finished unpacking all of Lauren’s dishes (which took a long time, she has waaaay too many dishes) I met up with Jeff and we skated around the campus and made fun of drunk people at the bars and other people wandering around trying to play capture the flag at 2am. I also got to see the arboretum, the underground library, the experimental corn plot, and just about every part of campus (which is an understatement, because it’s very very big…but i did see a lot of stuff and it was very awesome to skate around everywhere).

So that’s a little random post about what i’ve been up to lately. More later.

PS, only 5 more days till i go back. i can’t wait :) i miss everyone…well…some people more than others…and some, a *lot* more than others

UPDATE, i found the blue thing again so here’s some pictures…

i took a few pics at petsmart (where we went to look at birds). there was a funny rodent (don’t remember what it was, but it was funny) that was chillin on top of it’s water bottle

this bird was crazy, all hanging upside down and from one foot and showing off and all…guess no one wants him cause he’s 550 dollars!!!!

i grabbed a cactus in target…although i did it very slowly and carefully so i didn’t hurt myself…but it still looks painful…

lauren found a hat with a weiner on it

there would have been some other interesting pictures…if i would have predicted that i would actually post these online…but that’s all you get, cause i was lazy…

Quakecon goodness…

So, after leaving home at 10PM last night, we arrived in Grapevine, TX shortly after 2PM. Quickly we spread out and: secured the hotel room, got all our stuff in line, and scoped out this insanely huge and awesome hotel. Speaking of the line, it was long…like last year. We waited from about 3 till just after 11 when they finally opened the main BYOC (bring your own computer) room. It’s huge. It will be so sweet. Oh man I can’t wait :)
There’s more pictures but here’s one of our stuff after we set it up.

It opens tomorrow at 9 (but we’ll probably get there much later because we’re very tired) and the fun goes till 1pm on sunday. Wahoo!

It never gets old…

Tonight was interesting. Wasn’t planning on going to the city when I woke up but hey, things change. I’m glad I went though, it was A LOT of fun. Thanks Jeff for throwing together yet another last-minute shin-dig. Here’s how it went…

I worked today from 10-4:45 at which time my mom was supposed to pick me up… At about 5, she showed up and after rushing home, I rushed around and got stuff then she dropped me off for the 5:27 train. Arriving in Chicago around 6:15, I skated down to Navy Pier area to meet up with the rest of the gang at Dick’s Last Resort. I had a huge chicken salad…like…seriously this thing was big. It was still big enough to be a meal after I was totally full. After eating we skated over to the North Side to meet up with some other people who had come down to check out Zach Braff’s new movie (he’s the guy from Scrubs…yea, he made a movie…and he stars in it too…and he makes out with Natalie Portman…which is a good idea if you’re making a movie that stars yourself.. so keep that in mind…even girls…). The movie was “Garden State” and it was hilarious. A couple times I almost felt like J.D. would come through with a voice-over narration like in Scrubs…but there wasn’t any of that…which is good I guess. So definitely check that one out. After that it was almost time to go home…but we realized we couldn’t skate like 3 miles in 10 minutes so we took the long way and went to the Field Museum and then back to the train station so we just barely made the 12:40 train…the *last* train of the day. It’s good to live life on the edge… :)
Here’s some fun highlights…

1. What’s-his-face (seriously Jeff, what’s his name?) almost getting in a fist-fight with the waitress because she wanted to put an oversized condom on his head that said “Hung like a cold midget”
2. Skating through the restaurant district during dinner hours…that’s *very* crowded
3. Getting yelled at by taxis because they don’t bother looking behind them before turning right into you
4. Seeing the scene of the derailed train that happened earlier that day
5. Seeing some scene being filmed from Batman (at least we think that’s what it was…cause that’s what’s being filmed down there right now)
6. Skating in the bike lane in the street and going faster than the cars
7. The payoff after skating 2 miles out of your way when you get to see the Chicago skyline at night
8. Almost missing our train because we skated 2 miles out of our way
9. Walking in the middle of the street for 6 blocks from the train station to home

Needless to say, I had an excellent night. Can’t wait to do it again. :)
(I was gonna try and put together a map to see how far I went but it’s altogether too confusing with lots of lines going every which way. From what I measured, however, it’s more than 11 miles…so I might need to rotate the wheels on my skates pretty soon…)

Maybe I *do* love Nvidia

“In a few days we’re going to turn up the heat another notch. At Quakecon in Texas, a mecca for gamers and truly a phenomenon to witness, we will officially unveil our newest mainstream member of the GeForce 6 family”
