The Warped Tour, Traverse City, and Radiohead

So The Warped Tour was great! Oh man was that fun. It was on Saturday and I went with Lauren, who had asked if I wanted to go on Friday. We were in the pit for New Found Glory and Yellowcard and after those two I was totally worn out and tired and sweaty so then we walked around and bought lots of stuff and watched the skaters and bmxers do their thing on the half pipe. Towards the end of the day, Flogging Molly played. They’ll always be rockin’ in my book, me being Irish and all… The sweetest part was when WE MET THEM ALL!!! haha, I got all 7 signatures on a sweet shirt and maybe I’ll post a picture of it sometime. I also bought a few other things…like a Vans shirt (that came with a hat and a cd) and the brand new Project 86 album that I didn’t even know was out. I got it at the tent for Tooth and Nail which is the all-christian label that Project 86 is now a part of. After Sugarcult played an amazing show, we headed over to IHOP for some late-night pancakes and then headed home. Then I started packing…but not really.

On Sunday morning, I had to wake up early…which sucked…but I still hadn’t packed anything for the trip to Traverse City so I got that done pretty quick because we had to drop my brother off at the bus stop in Elgin to go up to Covenant Point at 9 or so. Driving up to TC was pretty easy, it’s quick once you get going because there’s like…no traffic in Michigan. When we got there, I noticed something, Traverse City is B-E-A-Utiful this time of year. Katie said it was the best time of the year in terms of weather so my mom and I were glad to have picked it to visit. To make a long story short, since I’m already getting tired of typing and I’ll have another post soon anyway, we did SO SO much up there. Walked on the beach, on the streets, on the dunes; stopped by Interlochen for the grand tour with Emily (we even ran into Blake…anyone else remember him?); and we went to this “Art Park” that, in my opinion, was WAY over-hyped. It was supposed to be this gallery of art work that would tie in with nature and look pleasing to the eyes when it was displayed in the forest. Some of it was cool…most of it was lame. There were like 15 or so pieces (which made up more than half of the whole walk) that were lame poems and were only there because someone donated a lot of money to get the thing set up. Some of the art was just a regular sculpture that didn’t have any place in “nature” at all… Oh well, hopefully more artists show interest in this because it has the potential to be *really* cool. There were some set-ups that were quite amazing.

Well that was more than I had planned on writing…and there’s a ton more stuff I have to write about so that will come later. Soon there will even be pictures, so stay tuned. I’m just waiting for them to get developed (I give up on digital pictures, my SLR cam is too cool :) )

Cookies!!!

So here’s the deal…Discount Domain Registry SUCKS. They said they were gonna transfer hacknight.net like…a month and a half ago…but I guess it’s still not transferred. It worked fine until like 2 days ago…when…as you may have noticed…all the pictures disappeared. This is what it says in the domain listing…

Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD
Updated Date: 09-jul-2004
Creation Date: 27-may-2003
Expiration Date: 27-may-2004

which doesn’t make any sense…because the only thing they updated on july 9th was BREAKING MY WEBSITE!!! jerks…

I’m just gonna pretend like everythings working though…so when my site gets back up these pictures will show up…if you want to see them in the meantime, you can click here and here…respectively

Molly, Greg, and I made cookies last night…they were VERY tasty. After that we played Dance Dance Revolution for like 3 hours…and my legs still hurt. Haha, that game is kinda fun. Tonight we watched “Scotland, PA”. It’s a black comedy with James LeGros, Maura Tierney, Christopher Walken, and some other people who I don’t feel like copying-pasting. (ok, here’s 2 more… Amy Smart, Andy Dick…they’re pretty funny…looking!)

Other than that…not much else is going on…I’m sorta in the process of copying all the old movies from those Hi-8 tapes onto my computer…but one of them really doesn’t want to give me any audio…which makes the movies slightly boring. Eventually I’ll post some of the stuff online…someday there might even be a DVD of all the classic movies from 2000-2004 (aka RincuBuS Productions).

Ok bye bye now

been reading some more…i finished that one book (Mount Dragon). it was really good, you should all read it. now i’m on to Cryptonomicon. it’s 1100 pages so it should take a bit longer to finish than the last one. (btw, that’s where the title of this post comes from, in case you were wondering)

went to see chronicles of riddick again tonight with my dad and my bro. it was even better the second time. tomorrow i’m either going to see anchorman, or going to a concert, or both, or neither. the concert features brain’s new band which features germans. STEIN AUF, if you know what i mean. should be rockin…whatever i end up doing…

ok time for bed

Daily (or not so daily) Update

Didn’t update yesterday cause I left my phone at Papaw and Nana’s. (I call them this instead of my “grandparents” because Papaw is my real actual grandpa but Nana is just an imposter who started pretending to be my grandma after my real one died before I was born…so that’s just a quick story to lessen the confusion you might have as to why I’m referring to them as ‘Papaw’ and ‘Nana’ which, frankly, have been their official titles since I was born…) Had some fun times at the beach though. We went to the coast that’s closest to here. So, mostly straight east. It was fun. There were some hot chicks, and some not-hot chicks, and males standing so close together they must have either been gay or secretly making bets about how old the hot chicks were. They also had some stuff you could rent, like little beach chairs under umbrellas for $10 a day. (this idea came up a few years ago at some youth group function and I swear, it would make so much money…imagine…$10 a day times 50 sitting areas times about 4 groups who use them each day (give or take)…that’s $2000 a day…dang…sometimes I go off on tangents…). We didn’t rent the chairs, but we sat in them anyway. After a couple hours, a guy came by and asked if we paid…and we told him we were leaving to go find a *better* beach. We went to Red Lobster for dinner…I have fond memories of that place…

Papaw and Nana’s view from the kitchen through the wall-sized window

Today we went to the Peninsula Fine Arts Center.

Too bad none of my pictures captured anything interesting enough to repost on the internet.

We went to Colonial Williamsburg again for the last time before we have to leave tomorrow. There was a weird fuzzy bug with red pointy things coming off his head…I was afraid.

Here’s some more pics of that place

The stocks weren’t generally appreciated by many of the residents of Williamsburg back in the day…but now kids (and especially parents) love them!

Sometimes they do cool marches with the Fife and Drum people. After they marched, they fired off some cannons.

And that’s it, no more posts before I get home…unless I’m bored enough (and have no fear about how big of a total geek I am) to post from the airport.

UPDATE: Since this didn’t even get posted yesterday…and since my post from Sunday night got deleted…I’m reposting this message and the pictures from the last one. (and yes, I am posting from the airport… ::dodges scornful glares::)

(this one is my favorite, it’s from the restaurant “friendly’s”…as you can see, the little girl doll has a plastic bag over her head…yea i’d give that to my kid…NOT)

I should be home sometime at like…9 or so… give me a call if you want to do something.

Pictures, as promised…

We went over to Ross, Dean, and Julia’s and had some good times. Ross and Dean were the usual out-of-control little kids. Julia was the usual “older and wiser” sister.

The painting was the best part. Ross and Dean quickly finished painting their stars and moved onto the table, their faces, etc. Soon we gave them some big pieces of paper to paint on because everything was turning into a mess. Julia’s star turned out pretty decent, with careful attention paid to staying inside the borders and dividing the canvas for multiple colors.

We played outside for a while, hide-and-seek, etc. Julia wanted to catch fireflies. I went back inside to talk to the “grown-ups” and read a bit while Greg kept the young-uns occupied.
